Prof Hans-Josef Endres, Director of the IKK - Institute for Plastics and Circular Economy, is doubly pleased. Firstly, about the high level of interest shown by visitors to the Hannover Messe in IKK topics in the field of plastics recycling and secondly, of course, about the political interest shown by the Minister, Falko Mohrs, from the Lower Saxony Ministry of Science and Culture and his State Secretary, Joachim Schachtner.

Falko Mohrs' ministry has long been focussing on transformation processes towards a circular economy, which led to a lively exchange regarding the recycling of technical plastic components, such as wind turbine blades, automotive components or devices from the electrical and electronics sector. Plastics have become an integral part of our everyday lives. At around 400 million tonnes worldwide, plastics have become indispensable materials. Recycling and recycling them would bring immense economic and ecological benefits. For Minister Mohrs and his State Secretary Schachtner, universities are an important driver for supplying society with climate-neutral energy and raw materials in the future and implementing the EU's Green Deal.
